Californians may be interested to learn that the child custody battle between Thomas Ravenel and Kathryn Dennis of "Southern Charm" is heading to court. Ravenel, 54, has filed a lawsuit against Dennis, 24, to pursue a court-ordered custody and visitation consensus for their two young children.
Ravenel complained that Dennis had blocked his access to the children. He alleged that she has ignored requests sent through his lawyers to see his children. Ravenel also claimed that he pays $3,100 a month to cover her rent and that he has offered to make a settlement for more money.
In a recent interview, Dennis claimed that Ravenel had not seen his children for almost three months and that he was no longer trying to contact them. She also insisted that he had not given her any money. Social media has become a venue for displays of their animosity. Ravenel alleged that Dennis used drugs while pregnant. Dennis expressed her belief that he does not spend time with his children because he would rather pursue other women.
When a person becomes embroiled in a bitter child custody dispute, court intervention might be necessary. A person could enlist the services of an attorney to either negotiate with the other parent or present the case to a judge. Someone seeking legal custody or visitation rights might have an attorney prepare documentation that illustrates an ability to provide physical and emotional support to children. When a family law court considers such a case, the best interests of the child typically guide the application of law.
